3. Will this mean I don't need your road map?
4. Is it easy to upload to my device?
5. How often will the information be updated?
6. Will you be adapting your database for other equipment?
7. Can I copy the file and send it to my mates or post it on the web?

1. Why do I need to buy the sat nav download?
  • Our map is fantastic for route planning and handy to keep in the car but, especially when you are in unfamiliar areas, it can be tricky to track down exactly where a station is, especially at night as many LPG stations are off the main routes. Our database, when installed in your sat nav, will take you right to the pump!
  • The price of LPG can change weekly and with our subscription service you can be kept up-to-date with the lowest prices so if there is a cheaper station you can choose that one and save money! Our sat nav database will pay for itself many times over.
  • On some devices you will be able to telephone the stations directly from your unit as we list their telephone numbers. This is very helpful to check opening hours, prices and whether they have LPG in stock (some motorway stations often run out).

2. What's so special about our Sat Nav files?
It's been said that creating a database of POI (points of interest) for a GPS or satellite navigation system is easy. Apparently, all you need is the postcodes of your destinations which you then convert into GPS coordinates (longitude and latitude). This is not true. Especially in rural areas, a postcode translated into coordinates can be out by up to 3 miles (click here as to why). Our database is NOT created by postcode but by paintaking plotting on a map coupled with many site visits to get an actual reading. This has taken many months and is not available anywhere else. Accordingly the database you are using is the result of 1000s of hours of work.

3. Will this mean I don't need your road map?
No, the physical printed map is still essential as:
  • Sat nav devices have limited space for full details about a station (only about 48 characters per station). This means that we cannot list full opening hours, for example, we only list if a station is 24/7 for example. Our map-book contains full station details including opening hours and credit cards.
  • You can use the numbering of the stations (each station has a unique number) in the printed map and key it in to your sat nav unit (click here for instructions as to how). Once keyed in you will be taken straight there.
  • You can use the map to route plan in a way which is much easier than looking at a tiny sat nav screen. So, for example, you could plan your trip across the country with convenient stops (every 160 miles for the office LPG car) then enter these as 'waypoints' on your journey. Click here for an example.
  • The map is useful for an overview of areas you are not familiar with. Your sat nav device will not, for example, tell you that there are no LPG stations on the whole of the M5 south of Bristol. Once you are there it's too late!

4. Is it easy to upload to my device?
Uploading these files is not complicated and does not require an university degree in computing. However, you must have a computer to which you can connect your sat nav device usually by means of a USB cable. Click here for further information and full instructions.

5. How often will the information be updated?
The database is updated every day, with prices updated every 2 weeks. However, if you only buy a one-off download you will not have access to all the amendments we make. Given that there were over 250 station closing and openings in 2007 one missed new station could cost you!

6. Will you be adapting your database for other equipment?
Depending on demand we will create the database for other systems. Please mail here to request for your satnav system.

7. Can I copy the file and send it to my mates or post it on the web?
When you buy your satnav download you legally agree not to make copies of or distribute the database. In every file that you download is a hidden code which links you to the file (and the IP address of the computer from which you purchased the file). This means that the file you purchased can be traced back to you even after you have copied it. Please do not do this we do not like to take legal action but we will defend our livelihoods.

PLEASE NOTE we are offering only TomTom, Garmin, and Navman downloads at the moment.
